"Exciting changes" at the New York Times
Any time a business entity offers "exciting changes" you'd better keep a good eye on your wallet. (They are starting to charge for premium content at nytimes.com)

1. This is the direction many good websites are going
I for one am happy to pay $50 for access to the Times. It is one of the things I look forward to every day. At less than twenty cents per day (I only read it online during the week, on Sunday we get it delivered) it is a steal.

2. They may be good or may suck but your original point of
"exciting changes" is valid. Far more often than not, it means a screwing.

I'll read the Times online, but it's too pricy for me to buy in hard copy.
