So here I was, just thinking that I was about to watch a movie about Rome with some nudity, with the screenplay by Gore Vidal. And what did I get? A buncha porn.

Now while I have no problems with porn or nudity, I was totally shocked to see "the money shot."

Whew, someone coulda warned me, I have children that were running around.

After about 30 minutes I realized that the porn aspect was the only reason Penthouse agreed to bankroll the movie.

Either way porn has it's place but not in the early evening with my toddlers still up and about, I had to turn it off.

1. Yes, it was, basically, an expensive porn movie....

...apparently you got the unedited version.

As a sidenote...many of the actors involved distanced themselves from the movie, stating that they weren't aware of some of the scenes that were added or filmed. Porn aspects aside, it was basically not well directed.

However, the visuals were great!:D

I got about halfway through it and couldn't watch any more.

But seeing that the film was bankrolled by Penthouse should be a giveaway for anyone . Especially , when a movie is dealing with the most sexually deviant emperor , its going to have sex . ( also again , it was bankrolled by Penthouse )

which prompted me to buy it.

It is filled with sex. and violence. But then, wasn't that the norm for Rome?

6. There is an R rated version.

Probably not good for the tykes either, but it is a lot more watchable since it is mostly story.
