Insects you actually like
What are yours?

Mine are:

crickets (sign of fall)

ladybugs (cute little insects)

I don't hate moths, but they are dirty and get in the house a lot. I try to capture them and put them outside.

1. There are these black and red bugs
Edited on Wed Sep-14-05 02:07 PM by Shell Beau
that are in their mating season right now. Every where I go, I see a couple hooked together. I just ran into about 200 of them doing the deed at the gas station. I am losing my mind. They fly around while in the process. What are they? Aaahhhh!

But other than that, ants fascinate me. Bees do too! They are always on a mission, but I don't want to be attacked by either of them.

48. Are you in Florida?
I remember those from when I lived down there. Some highway drivers would put vaseline on their hoods to keep all the lovebugs from ruining their paint. The swarms were that big.

14. Cicadas, bees, ants, ladybugs, butterflies, cricketts
I love the sound of cicadas in summertime in southern Europe. I can't picture southern France without the pleasant sounds of the cicadas all around in the countryside. Ants are very interesting to me. When I was a little kid many years ago, I once spent an entire summer observing an ant hill and keeping a diary of what they did. They're fascinating.

49. Ants. I'm a bit obsessive about them.
If you think of an ant colony as a single organism, they make a lot more sense. Ant trails are the arms and the fingers of the beast, reaching out from the colony's shelter like a shape-shifting giant octupus.

Large stable ant colonies exhibit a certain kind of intelligence. Different ant colonies have different "personalities" even among the same species of ants.

53. I guess I'm the only one here who doesn't like lady bugs
I use to think they were really cute until my building got infested by them. I literally had so many that my windows were completely covered and no light could come in. Somebody spread a rumor in my building that if you kill them they'll give off a scent that attracts more. I don't know if that's true but the problem didn't go away until someone got the idea of vacuuming them.

I do like fire flies. Atleast they wouldn't have made my room pitch black.
