My adventures with the Geek Squad...
On 9/4 I took my laptop into Best Buy because the power plug in the back is loose. I left it there, after they told me it would be back 9/15. I was a little annoyed, but what could I do? It was screwed. So yesterday I called to get the tracking number, after I checked the status of the service order, because it said my item had been picked up. Um, no! So I call, and they told me some new guy screwed up. Anyway, we tracked the package, and it was set to arrive to day.
I walked in the door today and Skip had put the box beside the couch. He walks into the room, and I say, is that my computer? He says sort of. Upon inspection it is totally not my computer. It's nearly brand new, and some stupid girl has put a sticker on the front of it. Weird. Anyway, I call Best Buy, and get the Geek on the phone. I explain the situation, and say I'm on my way to the store. I don't want the liability of having someone else's computer around. So, we load up and go to the Best Buy location where we purchased the Laptop. After spending 45 minutes trying to figure out where my computer is, they find it in a store room. Yeah. So, we leave and get home. Come to find out, they never sent it off! Oh I'm so pissed off! I have to go back tomorrow and speak to a manager who is just going to send it off again, and it'll be ANOTHER two weeks, and there is no guarantee it's not going to take 6! I'm sooo frustrated with this, I couldn't even enjoy the Netflix disc we got today. UGH. :banghead:

1. Something scary about those places
When you are just browsing, they're all over you, harrassing you constantly...

If, however you try looking for help, it's like "The Day After Tommorrow" in Best Buy, comletely empty.

It never fails.

Also, Good luck with your second attempt :)

2. Welcome to DU!!
And you're right. They treat you like a g.d. thief when you're browsing. When you take advantage of warranty (or other) repair, they treat you like the stuff you find in a cesspool.

Man, if I wasn't burnt out I'd start my own PC biz. OTOH, I've seen three in my area, all of which had died off last year... so maybe I won't. :D

3. They were really nice to me...
And very helpful. It wasn't their fault the other guys were useless.

5. my son had
the same thing happen at Best Buy with his cell phone. He purchased the replacement insurance for it. It was destroyed at a construction site. At first the sales person refused to replace the phone even with the insurance paper right in front of him. When my son started raising his voice and in front of a large crowd said "either I get my new phone or I'm going to blow a nutty right here". They did give him a new phone because the crowd was getting just as riled as my kid.
