PORTSMOUTH - Police have identified two men as suspects in a rash of indecent-exposure incidents at city drive-through restaurant windows. One has been arrested, while a warrant has been issued for the arrest of the second suspect, a city resident.
Christopher Masi, 35, of 100 Main St., Newmarket, turned himself into Newmarket police Sunday on a Portsmouth warrant for indecent exposure and lewdness. According to Portsmouth Police spokesman Dante Puopolo, Masi is a suspect in an Aug. 25 drive-through exposure incident at the Woodbury Avenue Wendy’s.
Puopolo said police initially received descriptions of the suspect and his car from witnesses. A couple of days later, Masi reportedly went into the restaurant, where employees recognized him, then recorded his license plate number.
Masi was pulled over for a traffic stop on Sept. 9, and Portsmouth Police Officer Andre Wassouf, who is investigating the Wendy’s drive-through incident, questioned Masi, according to Puopolo. After that interview, a warrant was issued for his arrest, and on Sunday he turned himself in at his hometown police station.
A Newmarket police spokesman said Masi was released on $500 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in Portsmouth District Court on Oct. 17.
In response to a series of reports about Dunkin’ Donuts drive-through window exposures, a warrant has been issued for the arrest of James Collins, 37, of 38 Sherburne Road.
That warrant stems from an Aug. 20 report from an employee of the Islington Street Dunkin’ Donuts, saying a man was in the drive-through area "flashing people." Police immediately responded to that call, but arrested Collins on a charge of driving after revocation of his license, based on his March 5 arrest in Hampton for failure to yield after a stop or yield sign and driving after suspension and prohibitions.
The public police log for that date reported that warrants were "to come for the lewd act," while the investigation continued.
