1. I STUPIDLY threw out my Girl Scout sash
I had scads of badges on it and worked hard for them - what was I thinking??

I also seem to have lost a set of small NFL pennants for every team in the league which my dad acquired for me in the 1960s when I was a little girl, as well as a flattened football-shaped pigskin signed by the Chicago Bears (former QB Bobby Douglass was from my hometown). I don't know if I threw them out or if someone else did, but I can't find them!

2. OH MAN!
That does suck!

After some thought, I also regret getting rid of my album (wax) collection. After tapes and CD's came out, I thought I'd just discrard them.... damn, what a shame now!

3. Oh, that is a shame!
My husband wanted to pitch my albums when we moved to Texas, but I threatened him with certain death if he did so!

4. Hmmm...some of my photo gear
Esp. my Canon EOS-A2 and 35-350 L-series lens...amazing range and great sharpness. I can't afford that bottle now, though I do have an A2 again. Film ain't dead yet. :)

Also a pair of vacuum-tube Lafayette monoblock power amps...when clearing out my place in Michigan to move to Cheesecurdistan, I stupidly tossed 'em. New caps and tubes would have made those things sing...even with worn tubes they sounded nice. And I wish I would have kept my 1963 HH Scott Stereomaster 222D integrated amp instead of selling it on eBay years ago. I miss that thing, it sounded so sweet. Yeah, I got $170 for it and had gotten it at a flea for $10, but still.

5. Hang on to books and LPs
I have regretted ever getting rid of any book and stopped selling LPs back in the 1970s. Of course, that means my house is full of books and LPs, but it's a small price to pay. Analog LPs are still better than CDs, and CDs are almost as good only if you spend some real money or a player. The least expensive excellent player I've heard is $3500.

I miss every single book that I gave away.

8. My 1955 VW Beetle Convertible.
My very first car. I sold it for $350 when the motor seized in 1993, and they're worth a fortune to collectors today. I wouldn't sell it now anyway...the gas mileage was phenomenal, and it was just a cool car to putt around town in. Damn I miss that thing :(

Other than that, I would have to say my Star Wars collection. I used to have every single action figure and toy they made.

Interestingly, I've managed to hold onto the two more important artifacts in my life. My very first computer (TRS-80), and my childhood teddy bear (most guys don't keep them).

9. My mom tossed all my old albums
By mistake of course, I should have claimed them long before she was getting ready to move.

I had some great stuff there, that is no longer available.

10. My baseball cards
I had some valuable ones from the 77-78 season. But I actually traded away an Eddie Murray rookie card for some utility player on the Cincinnati reds.

What did I know?

12. warning: this might be hard to read, but I assure you I have recovered
When I was 13, my stepfather bought me a fine new Takamine dreadnought guitar as payment for services rendered.

When I was 27, I chopped it up and fed it into the fireplace, piece by piece. I had to. I couldn't play it anymore.

Now that I have recovered from his abuse, I regret that I don't have that instrument anymore. But I don't regret destroying it.

15. I'm so sorry, Bertha. I'm glad that you've been able...

to get past this. If destroying it was part of what you had to do to get past this, it was well worth it. You need to treat yourself to a new guitar that doesn't have any baggage attached to it.

14. My university diploma and my high school yearbooks.
They were covered with mold, and I'm really allergic to mold. However, I really miss them.
