If I could get a private room for the Saturday night party in DC...
...would there be a few people willing to help with the cost of the room (which I think I can get pretty reasonable).

This is at the Cap Hill Suites where many of us are staying. They do not have a bar nor do they serve food but we would be allowed to bring our own in. That is the downside - BYOB and BYOF.

The upside is this is our room - nobody else but DUers. Here are the facts - we are gathering in DC for what is turning out to be a massive protest. Many of the reasonably priced, suitably located hotel rooms are booked up and we're sharing this weekend not only with a massive protest but also the IMF yearly global meeting (which is probably why we're there this weekend) so most restaurants are hesitating about booking out massive amounts of space because they know - business will be busy and it will be brisk.

If we got the meeting room at the CapHill SUites it would be our room and not to share with anyone else. Food & Drinks are easy - we pass the hat and order some pizzas and people can pick up at the nearby liquor store/7-11 the beverages they wish to drink. But the room will be filled with only DUers and no one else

I really avoid making reservations because I know what people are like after protests - we're scattered all over the place and we're exhausted from many hours of walking, carrying signs and hollering at the top of our lungs. This isn't a normal DU gathering where the party is the focus - we're there because of the protest and you'd be amazed at the sheer number of people from DU coming. It's more than just the lounge; I'm meeting new DUers everyday just organizing this thing! I'd rather see something casual where people could just show up when they want and not feel like cattle who have been marching around place to place all day.

Again, the downside is cost of the room - I would need help from a few people willing to help chip in $25-$50 to pay for the rental of the room. The rest - food & beverage, would be everyone to bring.

To be honest, I just want a place where WE can all gather and be together in one room. This is just an option to toss out there and to see if we could swing it
