Has your sense of humor suffered during the * years?
I'm just curious because sometimes I just feel too depressed and serious to find my sense of humor. It's like my brain can't shift into that gear.

Am I crazy, or is this normal for the times?

1. Everyone reacts in their own way.
Sometimes, things are so grim, it's hard to find anything that makes you laugh.

Oddly enough, during this time, I've been fine-tuning my snark. I study with the snark-master, Keith :loveya: Olbermann.

2. I swing back and forth
between intense rage and necessary humor. Humor is a crutch I couldn't live without, but, yeah, sometimes I'm so overwhelmed by just how much shit is being perpetrated that it's like being buried alive.

4. Yeah, well more post-'04 election
I became very angry and very interested in politics after the '00 election. Seeing what went down in FL and the like just pissed me off so much and had a good deal with why I decided to study political science in college ('00 election happened during my senior year of high school). I set straight any mouthing-off FReepers I could and did campaign work in the '02 and '04 elections.

Since the '04 election I've just about resigned myself to the American people being beyond rescue. I really just don't know how much of a difference I can make anymore. To top it off, I'm also going through a lot of confusion about what I'm going to do with my life in general, and the horrible situation in the world and America aren't helping. I know it's simplistic, but I just can't help but think how much different the world and my own outlook would be if Kerry were in the White House.

absurdity at the massive incompetence of W's administration invites laughing, though I admit it's frequently mirthless..

10. I guess I can still laugh, but no big belly laughs lately.
And my ability to "make a funny" has suffered greatly. My mind can't work in that way right now.

6. I find everything funny..
Even when the cat introduces its asshole to my face. Things suck.. But, I won't stress about them all day. If I can help I will. If I can't help, candy, self-love, sleep, bad spelling, and poor grammar can get me through the day.

7. We make these "Bushisms" desk calendars
at work and when the 2005 version came out last year I couldn't find it funny any more. I was just sick that we still had this idiot in office. I think I have my sense of humor back again for now.

8. If it weren't for my anger I'd have given it up long ago.
Humor kicks in now and then.
