Jury Duty!
I got a summons for jury duty! It's the first time I've ever been picked. I got a thing in the mail months ago for district court, just a thing to fill out, but I haven't been picked for that (yet?). However, I recently got a summons for circuit court.

I'm kind of excited. Does that make me a total geek?

I report on September 26th. Best I can figure, since I actually wouldn't MIND serving, I won't be picked.

2. NO, you're not a geek...
I got a summons some time back, I was excited too, and I actually got PICKED to be on the jury! I was really cool to hear the case, then go deliberate with everyone else who was picked. In the end, I was the lone person who voted against the plaintiff. It wasn't a murder case or anything, and all we needed was a majority...so she (the plaintiff) got what she wanted anyway. x(

3. How long was your trial?
According to my summons, I'm at their mercy for a month. I get paid a whopping $12.50 a day.

14. my employer pays us fully when we're on jury duty
and we have to turn over our "paycheck" from the court to them. They want that $12.50, dammit. They're not going to let us live large on both paychecks!

4. Me too!
I found out last night that a summons was sent to my last residence. Since it's an old address I think I'll get out of it. The last time I was called for jury duty I was picked.

5. For some reason,
I've always been fearful of being called for jury duty. Don't know why. When I was finally called several years back, I couldn't go due to my kid's constant need for medical care. I do think it would be interesting, though.

9. I would think it was kind of neat
Until I got into the courtroom and found it was a trial for a serial jaywalker.

10. I am so jealous - I have always wanted to do jury duty (yes, I am a geek)
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 08:28 AM by meganmonkey
and I finally got a summons for it last year, but it was forwarded from my old address, and I moved across the county line so I wasn't eligible for it :( I was so sad.

Maybe I'll get it in my new county sometime

11. Nah, I'd be a professional juror if there was such a thing. I just
got a notice for jury duty too. This is my 3rd time. First time I was dismissed and the 2nd time I sat on the jury the guy pled guilty 1/2 way through the trial so we didn't get to deliberate.

Hope you get a case!

12. I had to report to jury duty this past
Tuesday (county). Don't know how its done where you are but I would adivse bringing along some reading material. When I went 4 years ago they were picking for two different trials. I waited the whole day and then they dismissed me and the other 5 people that were left. This time it was only one trial and we were dismissed at 1 p.m. In the event you have to wait, its good to have something to read cause it may turn out to be a long day for you.

13. I got picked once
But I it was from my home address, and the timing was in the middle of university exams at the other end of the country I had to pull out.

I would be more than happy to serve if selected.

15. I have always wanted to be on a jury.. Have served duty many times
but our panel never was picked:(

They once sent us all the way to Banning at mid-day traffic on a day thet *² was in Riverside:grr: and after driving all the way out there, and saitting around for an hour, they settled the case, so we were excused ..That was the closest i ever came..

I think I would be booted though, because I was the victim of an armed hold-up, and I know the DA...
