Parents of kids who play sports

I was originally going to charge $5 per head for our clinic but now think I might go to $10. Unfortunately I don't have anything to hand out to the kids who come. Do you think that is too much money to charge for a 3 hour gr K-8 cheer clinic where you don't get to bring anything home?

I was never able to go growing up because of the price so I send Callie as often as I can. If you have a decent rep in the area people will come no matter what you charge and no matter what freebees are thrown in.
She went to a clinic w/ college cheerleaders in charge.

13. Well in our case it's my little middle schoolers teaching other kids, so

we're not exactly offering top level instruction. However since I don't hink any of the other local schools off cheering any more we might get some takers ecause they have no other opportunity to cheer.

We tried it last year with our primary graders as our guinea pigs and it went pretty well, so I am hoping we can pull this off again this year. :)

$15 for three hours-if I lived in your area my daughter would have already been signed up. Forget the freebees-the clinic is a bargain!

15. *g* Well I could swear I had seen a b-ball clinic advertised last year

for $15 and I think there was a tee shirt included too, hence why I was feeling a bit worried.

When we did the free clinic last year the parents said we were really too generous, so I think we'll be all right if we go with $15 and maybe a little paper with some information on it to help them remember what they learned.

18. You should be fine-especially if you are offering

printed instruction on what they have learned that day so they can repeat it at home.
As to the b-ball clinic: I bet that for $15 the shirts were available for purchase. I don't live in a big city or a area of high economic development but I can tell you that there is no way a clinic around here would go for $15 w/ a shirt thrown in. My daughter's swim lessons run $35 a month (w/ nothing thrown in), soccer league is $60 this season(once a week for six weeks-t shirt is included) and Girl Scouts is $5 a meeting plus you have to purchase all extras.
Dance is even more expensive and cheer-I was looking at $70 a month for cheer plus had to purchase a uniform (which was about $250).

I wouldn't worry about a thing.
Make up some flyers and send them to the area schools. I get three flyers every night in my daughter's backpack about a clinic or a club or something. They (the school) will send them home w/ the kids. Most of my info comes from the flyers. And the groups say that they always fill up w/in a couple of days after the flyers were sent home.

21. Yep. I am working on the flyers even now. Just have to wait to get

confirmation that the date is available. I have to have both the building and my team (who are also the soccer team right now) but once I get that I am sending the flyers around and putting an ad in the local papers.

4. I would go with $15

I used to pay the babysitter $5 an hour for just watching the kids. You are offering a service, plus babysitting the kids for three hours so the parents can shop, clean house, etc.
However, I would throw in a megahorn, or pom poms, small football, some souvenir just to remind the kid (and parent) of the camp experience and to put a bug in their ear to enroll the following year. (cheap advertising) Don't go with tee shirts, they are too hard to have the right number in the right sizes.

9. No, not too much.

Parents know that it costs money to put these things on. If you have time, ask local vendors to give you coupons and stuff for "goodie bags" if nothing else. Or call your local chamber of commerce or tourism office - they do this stuff all the time. You'll probably end up with a bag full of pens and can huggies and a few food coupons, but if you are really worried about having nothing to hand out, works for me. You could print simple flyers about the clinic or cheering tips and add those, too.

Again, though, none of it is necessary. They're paying for your time and expertise. Merchandise (of any kind) is just extra. I have a six year old, and I can't remember the last time I paid $10 or less for ANYTHING for her. Hell, a Happy Meal and the gas to get to McDonald's will run ya more than that!

10. I was thinking of doing up a little page with our website addy on it

since it would be expensive for me to print out a pile of pages. (Although I have done little booklets in the past.)

I do know the local gymnastics center charges something like $15 for an 1 1/2 hour class. So to get 3 hours for that price might seem ok to folks.

22. If you have a digital camera with movie capability

you could film your instructors demonstrating the skills and burn the video onto CDs to hand out and or post on your webpage. It may not look like a professional production, but it might help your students remember what they learned...

23. I will be putting up pics on our site after the fact like I did last year.

this year I will only use my digital camera instead of the video cam. I took some captures from the film but silly me I had the kids in front of the window so everything was dark.

So this year I will only do still shots and all of them will be with the stage as a background.

You don't want to price it too high, but if it's too low, people won't think it's credible. $20 for 3 hours, where the kids are properly supervised, learning something and involved in physical activity sounds extremely reasonable to me.

17. I agree....

and if the OP feels the need to give the students something to take home, a flyer with tips or pictured diagrams of what they learned would be appreciated (and cheap to make).
