Electricians Help!!!

The light switch that turns on our lights in the dining room is very hot. What could the problem be? Anyone know???

1. DH said probably a loose connection or

too many lights on one switch.

6. This guy agrees with the loose connection or....

an oxidized connection causing increased resistance. Check switch connections (better yet, replace it because they are so damn cheap). Then check the connectors at the ceiling (it's always hot up there and may even be friction tape connecting that causes a crummy mess). Bottom line check and clean connectors at switch and fixture, using emery cloth to clean to a bright color and replace with new connectors (Maybe six cents each). Oh, as they always say, don't forget to turn off the circuit first!

7. I called his house and cell.

They are out. But, I asked for him to call back. You might want to think about shutting off the breaker for that loop until you get more info.

8. Maintenance guy came and fixed it.

Was a stripped wire...thanks for the help everyone!
