Anyone else like to watch ESPN Classics - boxing?
I just got DirecTv last week and I am loving this boxing on ESPN Classic. Right now is Patterson Vs Johanson 1960 heavyweight championship. Last night was Ali Vs Folley 1967 from Madison Square Garden...man, what a fight that was. It was Ali's last before he got his title taken away for refusing to be drafted.

Anyone else watch these?

1. Oh yeah... I catch those. And when you watch the Quarry brothers get
pummeled, it breaks your heart. Sometimes they show the old one hundred rounders --- Jim Corbett type stuff.

2. you know, I dislike sports and I find boxing in particular to be
not my cuppa. But I was over at my brothers and saw The Thrilla in Manila and The Rumble in The Jungle and I was well and truly impressed.

4. In my opinion
Boxing has really become a joke in the last few years, but watching people like Ali, Ellis, Robinson and those guys is really impressive. They were all class acts.

7. Say what you want about Tyson, but his early years were incredible

and of course Ali's whole career was incredible.

8. Tyson was unbelievable
I remember one fight,Ii went to the bar to see it and right when it started I went to take a leak. I heard cheering and when I came out it was over..LOL. I think it was in 1988 or so.

He was phenomenal. He just got too freaked out. I wish someone new would come out and bring boxing back to something worth watching.

19. Tyson was a marauder
If he hadn't gone bi-polar (or hooked up with Don King) his career would've been one for the record books.

11. Cheap Seats is a lot like MST3K
It is hosted by Randy and Jason Sklar...they sit around and tear apart D-List sporting events...like arm wrestling tournaments...It is pretty funny.

12. I like it, too, but sometimes it's hit or miss with them

However, more often than not it's very funny.

20. Yeah, it's pretty funny stuff.
"Superstars", Celebrity fishing, log-rolling contests, roller derby. That stuff was made to be ridiculed anyway.

15. Recently they were showing some new fights.
When I mean new fights, I mean fights from all eras that Classic has not shown before.

I still find it amazing that Matthew Saad-Muhammed's lightheavyweight title defenses are not being shown on ESPN Classic. A lot of then were come from behind KO victories and most of them were aired on ABC. The only fight that they have shown of Saad-Muhammeds' was a loss to Dwight Braxton(later known as Dwight Muhammed-Quawi.).

16. Not a sports guy normally, but I watched Ali vs. Chuck Wepner.
Ali basically beat the bejeezus out of him, but had to settle for a TKO.

Apparently, Sylvester Stallone based Rocky on Wepner and that fight in particular.

17. I used to like ESPNCL boxing.
Lately, though, it seems that they show the same fights over and over. Dont' get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Muhammed Ali. Would it hurt to show some Hagler or Robinson, though? Maybe a little Duran from time to time?

18. I love those classic fights
that and the classic NFL (pre-75) are the best thing on there. My only complaint is they seem to run the same ones alot.
