So, I at least got to have some wild, late 70's one night stand sex before it became lethal.

Mostly because although I cannot say that I would desire to be in a relationship anytime ever again, I could, at some point in the future, perhaps see myself sleeping with someone. So, one stand stand it is, even though, back when I was dating, that sort of thing didn't work for me at all. I was always one of those "have to know them first" types.

If so, then yes. But there was a lot of lead-up (we both had major crushes on one another, but we were almost never single at the same time), and the friendship continued after the initial awkwardness wore off.
