Today was a good day!
I got a warm lunch from the Red Cross folks and a root beer and some candy bars. Then a group of volunteer medical folks stopped on our street and gave out the tetnus shots. Now I am properly vacinated.

My insurance adjuster called to tell me that he had inspected my truck and it is totaled (Duh! it was under water and full of mud for several hours on the 29th.) They will send me paper work and settle the claim next week.

My neighbors across the street came by to try to salvage more of their belongings and I was able to visit with them and hug their sweet necks.

And, the best thing -- FEMA delivered a 34 foot travel trailer to my lot. They leveled it, anchored it and hooked up the water and sewer and prepared the temp electric pole. Hopefully power will be hooked up tomorrow.

So all in all - it has been a very good day - a terrific day.

Thanks to all - thanks for all of your cooncern and love. It has made such a difference.

I DU love DU! :grouphug: :loveya:

My face really swells up when I cry and feel sorry for myself, not very becoming at all. :silly:

As always, thank you for the concern & love! :loveya:

And thanks for forgiving my typos and spelling mistakes, it was late when I typed it. :boring:

2. Yes, to see a little what this nation could supply
trauma is an experience that you have survived nature and humanities
life's little pleasures that we take for granted (my fire in my life)
gives us the things that are really important
this night, this fight, this life, the time of our life's

may your troubles be few in the days that remain

You give me strength in your message

5. Yeah.... your good day just made a lot of "our" days a little better....
I find lots of strength in this simple verse....

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change,

The courage to change the things I can,

and the wisdom to know the difference.

Hopefully you already know it.. if not, I hope it helps in the years to come.

Oh wait

sorry no slam to this post.

her thing is not an 7 step program on chant or prayer for her existence on addiction
sorry,
wtf are you talking about?

11. What ?
Sorry... I dont get your point. "Addiction" or the "Government" have nothing to do with my post and why, since it was not to you, did you feel the need to chastise me over it ? It was a simple western mantra, from the heart, to affirm that we can not control what happens in our lives... only how we respond.

MZr7

and BTW... its a 12 step program not 7.

14. So I guess your prayer is applicable to her life?
It is not a western Mantra,
only for people in addiction,
just do a google and find out it comes from
AA

Your chastisement is on the poster not me,

The prayer is what?
study what is said and where it comes from and for what and who?

semantics is existence

Well actually it is my one step program, in a 12 step program in my existence

Semantics

Sorry

You missed the point
but not the message
I got that
you did good.

18. Actually no... you are not correct.
The "prayer" was written about a hundred years ago by Reinhold Niebhur. Yes he was christian and yes it was adopted by Bill Wilson and "AA" in the late 30's, but that is where it ends. Yes it is a "western mantra" for many. Why ? Because it is eastern in sentiment and parallels the eight-fold path.

Bottom line, I was trying to support the OP by simply saying that what has happened has happened and the only choice at this point is how to respond.

Sorry I offended you but my post was no to you and I doubt I offended her. So frankly, it is not your place to question my support for her...so...how do I say this bluntly... Fuck off.

make FEMA & the RC do their jobs -- I'm a very stubborn and bitchy person (hard to believe, I know :silly: ) - I've learned to fight for what I need and to make lots of noise.

Also, DUers have been very helpful - they know people who know people who know people, this is a wonderful community and all the love and support and concern has really helped.

I am blessed to be a member of this community. :grouphug: :loveya:

Don't feel helpless, DU has done alot for all of us and I am grateful. :loveya:

I still am having trouble with the Red Cross financial distrubution centers - they have to work out their lack of organization and set up more sites to help more folks (and have more vouchers and funds on hand. Folks don't realize how many arms of FEMA and the Red Cross there are, some work, some don't. It's pretty hit and miss.

Thanks so for the good wishes!

There are a few neighbors on the street, not many, most homes were totally ruined and/or uninhabitable - One family in a trailer a few lots down from me, another group down the way.

I have to clear the yard for the pups and get a gated kennel for them. That is my next adventure, once I get the power on.

Now you can stop worrying about me dying from infection - I got my shot! Hugs right back to you and your pup! Thanks so much for the love & support. :loveya:

Is there anything you need? Cravings? Necessities that are hard to get still? Do you have mail service? Can we send you anything?

I'm hoping to get on my feet some how. If work doesn't get going, I'll find another job - I ain't down yet. :-)
