Coincidentally, the woman who took the pic (she's the one on the right) just had a ton of her photography from the 1980s purchased by the Smithsonian. She was the primary photographic chronicler of the DC punk rock scene that flourished in that decade. Since then, she has moved on in her photography and expanded thematically.

We were showing her and Alec, the James Dean-looking guy to the left, some of the spots in the Columbia Gorge (they were on tour with different bands and entourages). That shot was from a very windy day at Crown Point Vista House.

in Cornwall. Tintagel is the legendary birthplace of King Arthur, and the site of the castle ruins is spectacular. If you visit, though, be prepared to climb a lot of steps, although it's well worth it for the view (as you can see from the photo with me and my kids).

We live in Yorkshire, in the north of England - which I tend to refer to as "God's Own Country" - but Cornwall is the other part of Britain I love the most. Digressing here, I'm shamelessly including a photo of the view from our Yorkshire back garden:
