It sounds like a reasonable answer. At least it's more credible than the whole earth and universe being constructed by a god in 7 days 10,000 years ago. It also takes into account the possibility that there could be more humanoids out there someplace. I'm an SF fan, so I tend to be open-minded about these things.

Consider that there are nebula out there that have sugars and complex proteins formed in them. Perhaps not from an exploding planet but there is every reason to suspect that abiogensis came about due to something falling from space.

But there's an interesting debate going on about whether the simplest amino acid -- glycine -- has actually been detected in the interstellar medium. Something that complex has a very complicated pattern of absorption lines, so it's very hard to identify.
