ARRR!! Today be the annual Talk Like a Pirate Day, Sure ...

Avast, ye scurvy Republicans! Today be the annual Talk Like A Pirate Day ( http://www.talklikeapirate.com/ ). Shivver me timbers, but there ain't no better symbol of what we liberals be but a crew of pirates; no leadership, no country - we be all alone out on the bounding main.

So what have ye seadogs be a'doin' today to celebrate this day? Bursting barnacles but I feel like goin' down to the Taco Mac and have a winsome, buxom maid serve me a tall glass o' ale!!!

I been and gone to mediocreminds.com and had the trusty crew translate the Democratic Underground homepage into pirate lingo. Avast, ye mateys, but when even a computer program's got enough sense to follow George's name with "bloody landlubber", what price the scurvy dogs have much longer to escape John Law? Ho, wench, another mug of grog and bad cess to the lot of 'em!

The cabin boy was chipper

Stuffed his arse with broken glass

And circumcised the skipper!

Now git yer black asses up the mizzenmast, me hearties.

The bartender looks at him and asks: "Did you know you have a ship's wheel down the front of your pants?"

To which the pirate replies: "I know, matey...It's drivin' me nuts!!!"

19. Arrr--Have a gander at this little ditty...
Edited on Mon Sep-19-05 04:05 PM by Hand
...ye scurvy seadogs--or I'll have the bos'un cut ye a suit of stripes with the cat o' nine tails! Arrr!

Fifteen men on a dead man's chest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Drink and the devil had done for the rest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.
The mate was fixed by the bosun's pike
The bosun brained with a marlinspike
And cookey's throat was marked belike
It had been gripped by fingers ten;
And there they lay, all good dead men
Like break o'day in a boozing ken
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

Fifteen men of the whole ship's list
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
Dead and be damned and the rest gone whist!
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
The skipper lay with his nob in gore
Where the scullion's axe his cheek had shore
And the scullion he was stabbed times four
And there they lay, and the soggy skies
Dripped down in up-staring eyes
In murk sunset and foul sunrise
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

Fifteen men of 'em stiff and stark
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
Ten of the crew had the murder mark!
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers' glut with a rotting red
And there they lay, aye, damn my eyes
Looking up at paradise
All souls bound just contrawise
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

Fifteen men of 'em good and true'
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
Ev'ry man jack could ha' sailed with Old Pew,
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
There was chest on chest of Spanish gold
With a ton of plate in the middle hold
And the cabins riot of stuff untold,
And they lay there that took the plum
With sightless glare and their lips struck dumb
While we shared all by the rule of thumb,
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

More was seen through a sternlight screen
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Chartings undoubt where a woman had been
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.
'Twas a flimsy shift on a bunker cot
With a dirk slit sheer through the bosom spot
And the lace stiff dry in a purplish blot
Oh was she wench or some shudderin' maid
That dared the knife and took the blade
By God! she had stuff for a plucky jade
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

Fifteen men on a dead man's chest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Drink and the devil had done for the rest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.
We wrapped 'em all in a mains'l tight
With twice ten turns of a hawser's bight
And we heaved 'em over and out of sight,
With a Yo-Heave-Ho! and a fare-you-well
And a sudden plunge in the sullen swell
Ten fathoms deep on the road to hell,
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

21. Ahoy, I bring ye the official Talk Like a Pirate Day song, mateys
I liberated it from the scurvy dogs at Nickelodeon.

A Pirate Says "Arrr"
(Lyrics by Paul Smith)

A Pirate Says "Arrr"

If you want to be a pirate,
Get up on your feet.
You can`t be a pirate,
If your sitting in your seat.
Swing your arms tough,
And stand kind of low,
And make this noise wherever you go.....

Arrr! Arrr! Arrr!
A pirate, a pirate, a pirate says "Arrr!"
It might seem strange, just a bit bizarre,
But they know your a pirate,
When they hear you say "Arrr!"

Arrr! Arrr! Arrr!
A pirate, a pirate, a pirate says "Arrr!"
You wear a spare part, a bandana and a scar,
and they know your a pirate,
when they hear you say "Arrr!"

The Jolly Roger is a pirate flag
A skull and some bones on a big black rag,
We`ll fly it on our ship, up above the sails,
And we`ll search for treasure,
And be tough as nails!

Arrr! Arrr! Arrr!
A pirate, a pirate says "Arrr!"
If you think we`re noisy, your right, we are.
`cause they know you`re a pirate,
When they here you say "Arrr!"

It be a right nice sea shanty for yer Pastafarian rites, er jus for passin the time while yer sailin the high sea.
