How long have you been unemployed?

I'm about to join your ranks.

And I did all that cleaning for nothing... (that's not quite related but I would have kept all of that crap and have left it for... oh, never mind.)

1. 1 month

but i quit my IT job voluntarily. I couldnt stand it anymore.

But I wasn't in IT...

3. Starting on my 3rd week.

Not in IT, though. Glad I didn't buy that leather furniture I had my eye on.

4. I quit my job to start my own business 6 weeks ago.

I was unemployed for 9 months before getting my last job, at which I stayed for 1 year.

My new company was a start-up and so I learned how it was done.

Start out on your own if you can think of a way. When you're making money, sock it away overseas. When our currency collapses - and it will - you will be wealthy.

5. Was for a couple of weeks.

Not in IT. Just picked up two jobs (both low paying) to make some of what I was before.

6. Coming up on a year

Mind you, depression and an utter hatred of returning to corporate life are contributing to the lenght of time.

On edit: And yes I am in the IT field.

7. technically since May 1

in fact, I've been grossly underemployed since November of 2001.

February of 2002, found a job, but took a 33% pay cut and a huge reduction in benefits.

Unemployed for a month, then in February of 2003, found a job not in technology and took another 33% pay cut. Endured chronic late payroll, no payroll, no raises, no bonuses, virtually no benefits (small contribution toward health insurance) until layoff May 1, 2005.
