Question for homeowners

I got an offer from the local gas company to inspect the furnace - do this every year - but also to clean the ductwork.

I don't know how important it is to clean the duct - and the duct offer is $200 - a substantive amount, even if is split and added to three gas payments.

Yet, with the extreme weather of Minnesota, cooled air in the summer and warm air in the winter constantly circulate in the ductwork and.. we are allergic to pollen in the spring and hay fever in the fall and other stuff in between. So if cleaning the ductwork will make the air healthy I will consider this.

Wonder whether any DUer has ever got their house's ductwork cleaned and whether it is worth the money.
