2. so the coach looks down the bench at his seventh string quarterback

Injuries have taken there toll, and he does not trust this guy to throw, so he tells him, just run the ball straight ahead three times and then punt.
On the first play, the quarterback breaks through the line and barrells ahead for a 25 yard gain, putting them almost on the 50.
On the second play he rumbles for another 25, and again on the third play. It is first an goal on the one foot line. The coach cannot believe it, they are going to get a touchdown.
On the fourth play, he drops back three steps and punts the ball out of the stadium. The coach runs over and screams at him "what the blazes were you thinking."
The guy looks puzzled and says; "the whole time I was thinking 'boy, we sure do have a dumb coach'"
