Marital Torture Story

In light of arwalden's thread I want to share a true story.

A young man (let us call him Joe) is raised by his single mother and sisters, he is quite a "ladies man" and sows his wild oats. Joe joins the Army and then gets a hankering to settle down. But for all the wild sowing, Joe wants a virgin for a wife and he wants her to clean his house and bear his babies.

Joe finds his good religious virginal wife and marries her. However, life isn't too saucy and fun with this gal. She isn't all that keen on sex and isn't all that keen on anything "different"...so all that wild sowing experience leaves Joe wanting for more. He buys her books he tries everything and it is all for nothing.

In the meantime, he and his wife had 2 kids and he is a "stand up guy" and he won't leave his wife and kids so he just cheats on her.

He cheats and cheats and in fact it becomes well known through the entire family that he is nothing but a philandering cad...but his wife and kids live in a nice house.

According to family rumor..he did share somethings...namely STD's...

Meanwhile his wife is tired of being cheated on and as soon as the youngest child gets into high school...she goes to college and gets a degree and starts working.

Joe isn't too keen on the wife getting a job, but ignores it...and continues to cheat...even going so far as to move out and live with another woman...and then...he gets cancer!

So what does he do?

He goes home to have his wife nurse him through the cancer. She does and he is grateful. So after almost 30 years of shitting on her head by cheating on her....he throws a big party for her and asks for her forgiveness...and low and behold...he doesn't get it.

Now he lives with her in the same house and she won't play the wife anymore but she won't grant him a divorce or leave. He is getting too old and has health problems and his kids don't want him either...

So now what to do...???

This is the story of one of my family members and you know what...everyone thinks she is being a jerk because she won't grant him the divorce. I personally think she is just waiting for him to finally kick so she can have it all...rather than split it down the middle with the big jerk... Personally I can't imagine having the stamina and will to stay with him...

1. Well it is a tough situation and I can't imagine how either one

of them feel. But something is to be said for forgiveness. I am not saying she should or shouldn't. Wouldn't the children get some of the inheritance though?

2. house and funds are in the spouses name...

that he did as part of his forgiveness phase...the kids will of course get what ever is left after she is gone.

I just can't imagine living that way...life is too short...if I were her I would have left him when the kids were small...

Much to her credit the wife never let the kids know what a first class jerkoff their dad was.....

3. That is good. They need to find out on their own

what kind of jerk he is. People can change. They usually don't, but things like cancer and such can make a person see the bigger picture. Maybe she stayed for the kids and decided to finish it out. Maybe she is content. :shrug:

4. well I don't think she is...he just had heart surgery and she

refused to pick him up from the hospital...

I do have to add that she looks great for her age. He looks about 70 but without knowing it you would think she was his daughter...so there must be some sort reward for sticking it out with the jerk...

5. Similar to a friend of my mother

She didn't work. House and business were in his name, he cheated on her and she wouldn't give a divorce and made him live in the basement. When he died she got everything, found and married a man who cared for her.
