2. not so much even a perfect bunt
No one knows how to even lay down a sac bunt anymore- this skill just isn't being taught in the minors or even little league anymore.

Although sacrfices ('productive outs') are extremely overrated (OBP-based offense is by far the most effective), there are times when they MUST be made. It baffles me to see even the best player totally clueless in a total bunt situation.

On the Yankees, really, the only excellent bunter is Jeter.

4. You don't watch the little league world series?
The last game this year a kid hit a perfect sacrifice bunt.

8. I saw that
But that's not the norm. It's great that kid did that, but seriously, I just haven't seen the skill being taught

3. I don't know, is it?
I'm not a big baseball watcher, so I have no point of historical reference.

Which reminds me, are you gonna make predictions this week?

It is right up there with one of the Twins' pitchers Balfour...I would change my name to Strikethree!

It used to piss off a lot of people.

That always pissed people off. So much so, that it was almost considered unfair.

14. Let the ball come to you. "Catch" it softly with the meat of the bat, not
unlike the action of an "egg toss". Use the back arm to guide the bat.

I heard this on an interview with Maury Wills.

20. I got baked.
First you scared me. Then you humiliated me. Haha.

I thought I had mistakenly spilled my soul responding to a cooking post.
Then I realized you had mocked us. How cruel. Is nothing sacred. Can we not get serious around here!

Ok, so I got high for a long long period in my life. Now it's time to start baking.

27. Nope. The Marlins' Juan Pierre is a master artiste.
He spends about a half-hour before every game testing the base path clay to see which way he should bunt. He's awesome at it.

33. My 13 yo daughter is an awesome softball player. Good little bunter,
and good at reading the defense and slapping one out past 'em when they're coming in to play an expected bunt. And she's fast as hell, so her OBP is pretty darn good.
Agree that a well-placed bunt is a thing of beauty.

34. A thing of beauty indeed
I love "small ball". So much more strategy involved than just nailing them out of the park.
