Rita is looking mighty scary right now.

How about posting our well-wishes to the people in the path of this storm?

8. Hang tough, sweetie
Sometimes you have to smack people upside their heads to remind them that we're all people. It's sad, but it's still true. If they don't get it after that they're a lost cause. :grouphug:

If the storm follows current projections the eye will go right over San Antonio Sunday morning, and still be hurricane strength. The city is just not built for that kind of wind and rain.

37. Hi merh!
How are you doing? I hope you and yours are doing alright. :grouphug: Let me know if you need anything, OK?

I called them and got the machine, but I called my secret weapon, their daughter. She and her hubby, three kids and two dogs are heading to my place tomorrow. She promised me she won't leave without her folks and their dog. The grandparents left today who live on Galveston. Some of the family from Houston is even heading here. It's an impromptu family reunion.

I'll be fine where I am, I'm way inland close to Austin.

Thank you for opening your home to all of your family. :grouphug: For whatever reason, Katrina and Rita are nothing to mess with. :scared:

I am doing all right, better than most. Don't fret about me now, you have a nasty storm headed toward your state and family to take care of. Did you tell them to empty their freezers and to bring the contents with them? I hope you have enough charcoal or propane for your grill. You know how impromptu family gatherings are - time to visit and eat. ;-)

You and yours are in my prayers. :grouphug: Please let me know how things go.

70. I have a lot of family living south of Houston
A Brother in Friendswood that left for Memphis yesterday. My Mom and her Husband that have headed up to Dallas. A WWII vet Uncle that lives in El Lago (near Webster and NASA) - he and his wife hired a moving company to empty their house and take their stuff to a storage facility near Bush Airport and then the two of them are headed to Chicago. Five cousins, each married with children, all of them headed north yesterday. In all, I think I have about 25 or so relatives living south of Houston proper that have had to evacuate. So, my thoughts and prayers are with them and all their fellow evacuees and I sincerely hope the damage is slight....
