I saw the footage on cnn about the boy who has no legs playing football for his high school. I think that's great and all, but...

2. Actually, quite a few girls have played high school football.

A few have played in college. Title IX, you see... generally, schools have no female football team; so if you sue enough (yeah, you usually have to sue), they need to allow girls and women to play.

Usually, they're place-kickers, but a few have played other positions in HS.

I am sure if the schools were more supportive, more girls would make it.

6. That's interesting because I never thought Title IX afforded women the

opportunity to play on traditionally male teams. I thought it was to ensure that equal opportunities for "sports of interest" were available.

It doesn't matter because it's all a bunch of crap. No college is going to invest the same amount of money on a women's gymmastics team as they do a football team because the football team generates revenue for the school. It may be illegal, but it's done somehow, even in this day and age.

...unless the EQUIVALENT female sport (i.e. men's and women's tennis teams) exists, women must be allowed on the men's teams. It's really up to the courts at this juncture.

It's about a brother and sister who are kickers for their high school team. The sister, a freshman, kicked her first extra point last week.

10. no I hadn't, and, while I think it's great they have a women's team...

I'd like to see all sports be integrated, gender-wise. Same as the military, if one can do the work, they should be able to have a chance like anyone else to do it.

Why can't there just be an NBA, with the best players, not just the best male players? why does there need to be gender separation?

I guess that would even further limit the options for top female athletes, so perhaps two leagues instead of one, like football and baseball... more teams...

I don't know...I am just tired, sick, and cranky. :hug:
