I've encountered a few assholes who post something inflammatory or nasty, then go back and edit it after they get flamed back. I hate that passive-aggressive shit.

If I make a slight typo (which happens very frequently), then every time I see it, it leaps out of the page and I can barely see any other writing - it practically shouts at me - so I have to edit, but always put a short note as to what has been done (usually "Edit for typo").

That way I'll be able to put the replies in context. If it's an edit for a typo, I'll know the replies relate to the post as is. If there's been a big change of content, I'll know some of the replies may relate to a post I haven't actually seen.

19. I only mention it when it's either 1) funnier or 2) adding/changing info.

Since an edit doesn't "kick" a thread if I have additional comments
I usually start another post.

That kicks the thread and notifies the OP or poster there's
something new.

Edits are usually lost.

I am usually fixing spelling or useage mistakes and I don't want people to think I am changing what I said.

Also, I am new to chat room community activity and it looked like what other people were doing to be polite.
