Anyone know anything about digital cameras?
I'm seriously considering getting one before my trip next week. I've narrowed it down to three. One's a Nikon, one's a Canon, and one's a Pentax. Are there any photo buffs here who could point me in the right direction?

3. Not knowing the model numbers of your choices
I would guess that all three are decent, in that they are made by camera companies and not computer companies...

Buy the highest resolution you can afford, and do not forget to buy additional memory cards...the ones sold with the camera are usually too small to store much.

Oh, and optical zoom is far superior to digital zoom....

5. Here's the ones I'm considering:
Pentax - Optio WPi

Canon - Powershot SD500

Nikon - Coolpix S1

There's also the Fujifilm Z1 that I'm considering:

4. I'm a Canon guy all the way
But before you buy, compare the cameras you're looking at on this website.

www.dpreview.com

It allows you to compare two or three cameras side-by-side, with full descriptions of each function.

6. The Canon is my first choice, but...
My main problem with the cameras is that you have to take the battery out of the camera before you can charge it. My last digital camera used all AA batteries and that was a total nuisance!

9. Wow, that's probably the most helpful site I've ever seen.
Either that guy's a professional or he's got way too much time on his hands!
