I'm now re-infatuated with the original NES game system....
Whether it's nostalgia or an irrational fear of newer technology, I want to buy a NES and some of the old games I used to have. I've checked ebay and they have games and systems. But holy HELL, they are still expensive. Seems as though others have the same idea.

What are games that you would want or recommend to me? So far I've thought of these:

Tecmo Bowl (OF COURSE) and SUper Tecmo Bowl
Track and Field
Rygar
Final Fantasy
Dragon Warrior
Zelda and Link
Metal Gear
Double Dribble
Double Dragon
Baseball Stars
Master Blaster
Contra
Ice HOckey
Super Dodge Ball
Wizards and Warriors

What else??

3. Bionic Commando was the best game for NES by far.
Glad to see it made your list.

8. I like a lot of those.
Ninja gaiden, Metroid, Contra, BC, Ikari Warriors, Megaman, Ultima.

You know what though. I HATED TMNT. That was one of the hardest freakin' games ever. LOL. You lost Leonardo and you were screwed.

18. Oh yeah. I agree. That was my fascination with Dragon Warrior and FF.
But TMNT, Golgo 13, Gauntlet, and Fester's quest were just impossible. Fester's quest there was ONE life and you had NO continues. If you got 5/6 of the way through the game and then died, you were screwed.

24. Are you kidding me? That game was endless and damn near unbeatable.
Edited on Fri Sep-23-05 12:51 PM by WeRQ4U
It had a ridiculous number of levels. The computer A/I was pretty incredible at that time. The enemies, although they were easy to kill, would swarm you all the time. Your life points went down by like 1hp per increment of time. The maps were so intricate and laid out. You had to playt he game OVER adn OVER and OVER to learn where all the exits and hidden objects were. In fact, if you hadn't played the levels before, you may just die from not finding the way out.

I consider this game hard, not because the enemies and bosses were hard to kill, but becasue the game was damn near impossible to complete. It was hard. I don't care what ANYONE says. I had the game and I don't think I ever finished it.

EDIT: I forgot another incredibly hard game.....Ghosts and Goblins.

10. ahhh, Tetris.
I used to be able to just kill on that game. I played the one where after each level, the little Russian dudes came out and danced for you. I think it was the second version from a different company. I was great. Dr. Mario = ggrrrrrrrrrrrrr:mad:

I LOVED the Dragon Warriors and Final Fantasy games. (FF II was kind of stupid though).

Didn't strider have this huge blue sword?

16. I loved Blades of Steel
Ice Hockey paled in comparison. Besides, the fighting screen was better. Edmonton rocked on that game. I beat the game with Edmonton.

21. Solution: Buy a Nintendo Revolution next year.
It's backwards-compatible all the way to the NES. For a small fee, you can download any 1st party Nintendo title (and many 3rd party titles) onto the system's memory. NES games, SNES games, N64 games. It'll also play Gamecube discs.

My to-play list includes:
A Boy and His Blob
Faxanadu
Bionic Commando
Final Fantasy

I'm selling my older systems now. I won't need 'em anymore. Too much clutter. Cheers!

26. I know, I know..
The Nintendo fanatic in my says the same thing. "You grew-up with the system, Tommy. Some of your greatest childhood memories are associated with that gray box, Tommy. You begged and begged for that system, Tommy!"

But then the anal "everything-must-be-compacted-and-organized" freak in me tells me to compress it all into this one system.

Someone on eBay will be very happy with the NES. If I ever get to digging it out of the attic.. :P

25. I suppose that's kind of cool.
Not a bad idea on the part of Nintendo. But I really have no interest in the newer games. They're way too frickin' complicated.

Besides, shouldn't it be a right of passage for a child to master the fine art of getting the original NES to work and to get that fucking red light to stop blinking. You remember, take it out, blow on the cartridge, blow out the toaster, push the cartridge down, put another cartridge in on top of that one.

Love it, love it, love it.

I'd go with Super Mario 3 for NES. SNES has a quad game cartridge with SM3 and I absolutely love it. How about Wrecking Crew?
