My sister in law left me a voice message - the family has left Houston
and now I can't get her on the cell phone.

I keep getting a message saying that phone service isn't available, due to Rita.

This completely sucks.

1. This is common right now...
I can't get anybody on cell or land lines in that area either.

Is she driving?

4. Yes
she is my brother's wife.

Her message said that they have all took the car, and are leaving.

I have no idea where they are now.

6. Well... wherever they might be heading
It's going to take FOREVER.

My guest coming from Houston left at 8:30 A.M, and they are STILL driving. Houston to Austin is only 3 hours normally.

Rita looks to be one powerful storm.

3. I'm waiting on a call from some DU evacuees, too.
The cell networks are busy as hell. I hope everyone gets out safely.

Memo to TXDOT: Open the goddamned contraflow lanes already. Sheesh.

7. Is everybody stuck on the road?
All I kept reading all day was how horrible the traffic was leaving Houston.
