It's so hard to reconnect with old friends......
another upside to this 20th high school reunion, I got the address of an old, great friend I swore I would never lose track of, and I contacted her tonight, after 10 or so years.

 I'm so emotional...I so missed her and was too scared to reconnect. I live in Manitoba, she lives in Alberta....

just thought I would share.

1. The sad thing is that all your shared frames of reference are gone.
I've been through this before. If you can get past the reliving old times and what's going on now in your lives, to a shared view of the world or a shared sense of humor, you're back reconnected. If not, than nostalgia is all you have. People change away from you sometimes.

12. That's very true
I've had both experiences. I reconnected with a friend from junior high school after probably 20 years and she and I were still very much alike - we've stayed in touch and done a lot together because we still share interests.

Another friend, who was my very best friend in my late teens and early 20's, I have nothing in common with now. I talk to her occasionally but it's all "remember when.." this and "remember when.." that - nothing really to connect us now but memory. Sort of bittersweet.

5. Ahhh ok
Just curious, cause you're from MB and I'm from Winnipeg and all...
I know my old high school is having a reunion very soon, I live right next to it now and saw the big banners.
