I know I'm in a minority here, but I'm not crazy about Tim Burton's movies

But he himself once said he could not tell if a script was good.

With a good script, like Batman, Beetlejuice, Ed Wood, and PeeWee's Big Adventure he is one of the best of the popcorn variety of filmakers.

With bad scripts, like Planet of the Apes, and Mars Attacks!, he makes pretty movies that have nothing to them.

And then there is Big Fish. COuld have liked it except for that awful character of the ungrateful son. Hated him so much I could not enjoy the movie.

But as for the animation stuff, I will support anyone who keeps stop motion alive.

I'm in complete agreement.

I liked "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure," but everything he's done since then has seemed like a watered-down Hollywood version of some college kid's idea of what surrealism was.

He gets pegged as a weirdo, but next to Ken Russell, he's like Ron Howard.

I thought sleepy Hollow was terrible. I went to the pre-screening for free and sort of wanted to leave.

I did a review on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and one thing I noticed is that he's redundant and copies his own style into different films. You can see elements of Beetlejuice in Batman, Nightmare Before Christmas and even Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I noticed that the Corpse Bride looks pretty much the same as well. I haven't seen them all, but these things all stand out to me as being the same schtick repeating.

I guess to some people he is infinitely clever, but I got increasingly bored on multiple viewings of different films. Beetlejuice just doesn't stand up to multiple viewings over 2 or 3 at the most, even if I am a Michael Keaton fan. And I doubt I could ever sit through another showing of most of those that I've seen.

So, no--you aren't alone. But then, my tastes run more to Mel Brooks than Tim Burton--I can happily sit through almost any of Brooks's films many more times. :)

20. See, that's one I liked...

I liked Ed Wood, and I liked Mars Attacks! for what it was. A good no-brainer popcorn movie.

But I really wanted to like Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, and so forth, but just couldn't get into them at all. Particularly Edward Scissorhands, liking Johnny Depp and Vincent Price as I do... but it was just, if you'll pardon my choice of words, pointless.

And sometimes his movies just SUCK. I mean... Planet of the Apes was a travesty.

19. They're growing on me.

I didn't like Nightmare before Christmas when it first came out but now my 4 year old is a Halloween nut and we watch that movie at least twice a month and even my two year old knows the song lyrics. I won't let them watch Corpse Bride until I prescreen it so I can't comment on it yet.

Didn't he do Edward Scissorhands? That movie was great!
