I feel bad about asking ,
considering the plight of the Gulf Coast (I grew up on the GC, Houston/Galveston) . . . anyway . . .

I, yet once again, can use, and humbly request and beg for, any DUer good thoughts, vibes, prayers (gtvp, et al.)(not that they are mutually exclusive you understand) due to my cirrent economic situation, to wit,

We are preparing for a huge garage sale this weekend to divest ourselves of most of our earthly possessions. This is due to the fact that our place here in Central Texas is due to be sold at foreclosure on Oct. 4. We have been trying to sell, but no luck so far. The mortgage co. has not really been a lot of help, as we have not even been able to get them to get the payoff info. to us.

Melodie has been out of work since January. I finally got a job with the Llano Central Appraisal District last month, but was informed this afternoon that that I am 'not working out.' I just got my last paycheck.

Now, I know, as I mentioned earlier, that the huricane evacuees have first priority for your gtvp, et al., then there is that war thing, the general political catastrophy, etc. but Just the other day you all got that Jet Blue plane down safely, so I figure now there is some extra cosmic stuff floating around, so why not me?

Since I probably won't be on here much anymore, just let me say thank you for your friendship, enlightening discussions, and general looniness.

6. I'll keep you in my thoughts.
Good luck to you! The only way I can get through crap is to think about that (sometimes) true cliche: when one door closes another one opens up.

I hope that this is the door opening up for you and that it will soon get better than it was before.

11. Call the attorneys handling the foreclosure.
Ask them for the payoff. Send them a letter asking for the payoff. If they don't tell you, call the Bar Ass'n.

That just sucks. I have never been in your exact situation but pretty damned close many years ago. I know how it can feel like the whole world is caving in on you and you just can't catch a break from anyone.

Don't feel bad for a second about asking for good vibes your way. All of the bad things going on now are indeed terrible, but it doesn't mean your troubles are any less valid, real, or important. I can only promise that if you rely on who matters most in your life and keep them close to you (like your family, pets - I see a very gorgeous kitty in your sig line! - and so on) everything else will fall into place some way, somehow. I believe with all my soul that everything happens for a reason, even if we do not realize it right away or for several years. This is horrible now, but I am positive there is a reason for it all and that reason will make you a better, stronger person. I am sure that doesn't help you much now, but please know there is at least one person wishing you brighter days ahead (and hopefully in the near future!) and sending lots of good wishes, good vibes, and prayers your way. I'm thinking of you :) Hang in there, friend - you've always got lots of us to lean on here at DU.

20. I second this suggestion.
A good chapter 13 will save the house, and the mortgage company will have no choice but to let you keep it (provided, of course, you're not under a chapter 13 already and are behind on your plan payments). New puke bankruptcy bill goes into effect on Oct. 17. File before then. No shame ... just survival. The rich folks file for bankruptcy in TX and get to keep $500,000 homes. No reason the poor shouldn't benefit from the law too.

Good luck!

Your kind words and thoughts have really touched Melodie and me.

Update:
It looks like we may be selling to our neighbor's uncle/brother. We have let them run their cattle on our place for the last 4 years.
Maybe this is a karma thing.

Melodie has a tentative job offer from a community action agency in the another state. They are just trying to get their funding in line. She also has a phone interview w/ Oregon this week.

We are looking forward to a new adventure . . . at least we are trying.

I went to the Appraisal District where I just got "discontinued" and picked up my things and turned in my key. The chief appraiser, who is a Republican, at least allowed me to go in on the weekend and do that so I didn't have to do that when everybody was there. I left a "Worst President Ever" site running on what was formerly my computer.

Also, We want to thank each one of you individually, but this will have to do for now. West Wing is in 15 minutes!!!

Thank you , Thank you, Thank you all.
