Who else has seen the uncut version of "The Last House On The Left?" |
|
Wes Craven's first horror movie from 1972.
It is very disturbing and has been banned in several countries.
This movie has disappeared from American venues and media. That's how scary and real it is. Some people think it is boring but I don't think they saw the uncut version. It has been edited to death by the powers that be.
Knowledgeable comments?

1. What do you mean by the uncut version? |
|
I saw it in the theater in 1972; does that mean I saw the uncut version?
I was in high school then, around the same age as the girls in the movie, and it sure as heck bothered me.

3. I have to give him some props though |

It's not scary as much as disturbing. As was the source material, Bergman's The Virgin Spring.

cut at least 3 times a week. I must have seen it at least a couple of dozen times during that period. It is a powerful film, and I always thought that Craven made a very sly and trenchant commentary on both the naivete (the suburban hippiegirl victims) and the licentious predators (Krug and Sadie and the gang) of the 60s "love" revolution. Being punks, we appreciated Craven's jaundiced view.
I had not seen the movie for at least a dozen years until I came across a copy a couple of years ago. I was amazed by how much I remembered. Pretty much every line verbatim. I can only imagine how much my old roommate retained
