The cream-colored painting is mixed media on prepared wood (including papyrus, text from a map of Cairo, a map of Africa, 24K goldleaf and oil paint). The series of small paintings is oil on prepared Tibetan prayer flags mounted on canvas.

Watercolor mystifies me. I don't do watercolor. :cry:

I am so tired from Hurricane Rita, all that work to get ready and the stress. Houston was one weird and strange city this past week.

My neighborhood was half empty, those of us who stayed just became good friends.

We didn't get much wind and very little rain, we were on the edge of Rita I think.

We did lose power for awhile, sure surprised me when it came back on so fast. The heat was terrible, the heat index was around 100 degrees. And all the work we did to get ready for Rita, really was unnecessry. I am glad I live in a nice old house, the wind didn't even shake the house. My house was build to take a Cat.5 hurricane, like so many old Houston houses. I had several people over with their pets, and we just passed the night watching the hurricane on the front porch. We lucked out on this one.
