Tell me, exactly what "rights" are you trying to protect? The right to not wear condoms and shoot scenes in Brazil so that AIDS can be spread around like the flu? Or maybe the "right" to degrade?

The right of prostitutes not to be raped and robbed by police without recourse to legal remedies is a big one. (This happens ALL the time in the USA. You think Abu Grahib was a scandal? This happens right here.)

The right to be able to legally work in a clean environment without fear of predatory pimps.

The right to be able to insist upon the use of condoms.

The right to be able to consent to sex or to withhold consent to sex for any reason that seems appropriate to an adult person, including payment or non-payment.

The right to privacy as established in Roe v Wade.

The right to organize into a union, and to bargain collectively with employers.

The right to travel internationally. (Sexworkers and former sexworkers are routinely denied visas into the USA.)

You see, there is no problem with sexwork that is not magnified by making it illegal. The laws against it never have and never will stop it; they only foster an abusive and degrading environment that harms all sexworkers.
