Is it wrong to hope that I have a child who's as weird as I am?

It's been said that everyone's unique. I don't buy it. There's a lotta boring sods out there who seem to follow the same trajectory. But not me.

In grade school, I read Marvel comics, whilst the other boys indulged in Sports Illustrated For Kids.

In junior high, I watched syndicated M*A*S*H* and Cheers, despising, all the while, the other kids who found Saved By the Bell entertaining.

In high school, I found salvation in Milton, Poe, and classical music.

Now, in college, I spend my time in the libraries, scouring over theology and literature.

All in all, I'm kinda weird. And though I would consider any child a blessing, I pray I won't spawn yet another Alpha Male (the typical guy I see drowning himself in alcohol and banging girls-with-low-self-esteem).

Is this wrong? I mean, Tim Burton and Helen Bonham Carter's child is bound to be interesting, right?

2. The fact that individuality is considered weird is not your problem

All kids should be encouraged to be individualistic.

4. Weird is good.

I've always tried to be one to defy convention.

A healthy child is a blessing, a weird child would be like hitting the jackpot.

It generally doesn't matter how one derives happiness - as long it harms no one else. If one ethically derives it, there is nothing wrong with wanting a child who is like you.

I just want my children to know how much I love them, but I know they will be whoever they want. They surely will not be me.
