This is my 3rd involvement with the anti-war March. The first time(Bush was in town holding a $1000.00 a plate dinner for republican Kit Bond. The people going to this dinner walked through our crowd with such a feeling of disdain that I felt if they could have spit on us, they would. Police had us move away from the hotel. They came out in numbers and had all their full body armor on. It was such a joke......the movement crowd was very organized and peaceful. I went to see John Kerry (again in downtown St.Louis) only to come out to see police surrounding and protecting a group of Jesuit priests who were at this occasion with their rosaries praying for pro life. Maybe it is the Catholic in me, but I did not want my religion mixed with politics. Today, marching through downtown St. Louis, in the pouring rain, I was reminded again how most of the people in this state feel about us. We marched through crowds of people coming from the St. Louis Rams football game. The finger gestures and wording FU was so inappropriate. This State is staunch Republicans and they don't want to hear anything we have to say. I wish I could move back to Ohio.
On a different note, please contact your local leaders and congressmen to help the Humane Society care for the animals who were affected by the hurricanes....they are feeling so overwhelmed and are in dire need of HELP.
