Poll question: What was/is your favorite class in school?
I looked forward to English the most, as I loved to write and still like it.

9. Science up to college, then History/Social Sciences in college
The discussion of scientific ideas was always fascinating for me in elementary and high school. History and the social sciences were usually less interesting, since most of my teachers rarely encouraged any real analysis of history or political processes.

Later in college, though, Science classes became more about the mathematical concepts behind or involved with a particular field of science. History and social sciences finally gained the depth that I was looking for prior to college. Cultural Anthropology, for instance, truly changed my entire worldview.

Though mainly because of the teacher. (I had the same teacher for both.)

Now in university it's political science and folklore.

17. Graphic arts/photography...
I just wish I had more chutzpah. I'm so puppylike I let others tell me what to do all the time... and then they yell at me when I'm unable to do something on my own.

18. Psychology and Create Writing
I had great teachers for each. Sometimes I would cut school, and sneak in and out to attend these 2 classes.

The reason these teachers were so great was not only that they knew and loved their subjects, and taught at a thorough and challenging pace, but mostly that they judged me based on my work, not my record, my appearance, my friends, my family, what other kids said about me, how other kids treated me. They looked at what I did and were able to see what I could do and responded directly to me.

Other teachers, I swear, were afraid of being unpopular and treated me like a freak so that the jocks and jerks would like them.

I actually did have lots of friends in High School, but I had problems, I cut a lot, and I was a bit of a freak, so the really unimaginative kids picked on me a lot.
