3. Yep; it's amazing
A friend of mine let me borrow his set.

So sad to see how far we've come from defending the world from fascism to spreading it.

It makes me sad to watch, knowing that some of those men probably now belong to the American Legion and want us to give up the rights they were over there fighting for.

8. Not all who belong to the Am. Legion are *-bots
My s/o belongs (he's a Vietnam Vet and very Dem) so we go there once in a while. I've noticed lately that a shift has taken place. Not a large one, but more are asking questions. And this is in a town where 'traditional' conservatives outnumber us liberals.

9. Not all....
but I hope enough people give the head guy guff for the statement he made. I'm glad to see more people are waking up.

The one vet I know from WWII (a cousin of my mother's documented his experiences in Germany- very interesting story) refuses to even consider voting Democrat because "we kill babies." (He and my mom were both raised Catholic). Fortunately, my mom grew a brain, and has always hated the fact that she had very few choices besides getting married and having babies instead of becoming an architect years ago like she wanted to. She's extremely pro-choice, and has pretty much cut ties with him.

Mom receives the AL magazine, and when I told her about their position, she was horrified and told me she was cenceling her subscription.

4. It's good
The Beast man and I ended up watching it on a rainy Labor day weekend a couple years ago. Very interesting. Of course, biographies are always interesting to me.

6. I sometimes think of the American who moved to Germany
his parents went back to germany to answer Hitler's call for "all Aryans to come home". He ends up killed, executed if you will, by American troops. Fascinating.

13. My dad was there and said the series was the most realistic
of any films about the Second World War that he had seen.

I watch almost nothing twice, and I've seen this twice and am ready for a third time. I will buy the DVDs when I get a chance.

Very, very good. Great acting, great on every level.

It's awesome -- but NOT for the faint of heart. Think the opening sequence of "Saving Private Ryan," and then multiply it over several episodes.
Bloody, but war is bloody. It is a heroic story well told.
John
I'll enthusiastically recommend it.
