So why is Apple (The computer co) Evil?

I see a pic of someone with an American flag and in place of the stars it had the logos of the usual suspects of corporate evil but I noticed the apple symbol listed among them...but no Microsoft.

Do we really have to discuss the ridiculousness of this? yea yea it's stupid small peanuts but really why would someone omit a truly crooked and evil company like Microsoft and in place put 100% Democratic donating Apple as part of an "evil corporation" list?

Are there any crooked business practices Apple engages in that I'm unaware of?

1. Its the whole idea that all corporations are evil

Watch the movie "The Corporation" and you'll see how this train of thought can come about.

Corporations are bound by law to serve the shareholders, not the consumers, the employees or the general good. To serve an interest outside of their shareholders would be illegal.

Having said that, I do think Apple is a more ethically managed company, even if the did lay me off in 2001 (grrr)

In other words,

THE CUSTOMERS

Nobody else should matter.

Anybody else just makes the entire concept a game, slanted to favor a few at the expense of everybody else.

I'm sorry they laid you off. Nobody is irreplaceable, and tens of millions of Indians and Chinese have rendered us disposable.

8. But the shareholders are the owners. Not the customers.

Customers give payment for a product and receive one.

Shareholders buy into the company for dividends.

3. I don't get it either. I think some people have a tendency to lump

all the companies together. Though I am Windows person, I don't get the Apple in the flag either ......... BTW, did you ever see the movie "The Pirates of Silicon Valley"? Bill Gates was "the good guy" as compared to Steve Jobs!?!?!?

9. It's a matter of degree, really

Jobs has done some not-so-nice things to competitors, too. Apple is like any other company and is solely in the bidness of advancing Apple.

Of course, when you've got an 800-lb gorilla like MSFT in the industry, the destruction of the 200-lb gorilla (Apple) pales by comparison.

5. I think the Apple logo is immediately recongizable

(without a caption), whereas the MSFT logo is its name.

I think it was aesthetic, not political.

10. I don't know but I just gave up on Apple after having invested

about 5,000 in hardware and software. Besides the fact that my $3,000 powerbook was a friggin fire hazard, forget the combustible batteries, forget the iTunes licensing rules, forget the fact that I lost 3 years of work, pictures and music when my hard drive stopped spinning. No. The thing that broke my back was the geeks at the Apple store. There is a definite correllation between the number of oozing zits on a kids'face to the inability to understand a customers needs.

Apple makes a crappy product, and expensive too.

I will NEVER understand their cult appeal, other than some pretty graphics. It's a particularly obnoxious and vocal cult too.

You feel the need to use words like crappy, obnoxious and cult (twice), plus a useless capitalization of NEVER. All of that within perhaps 20 words. Sounds just like a tunnelvision blinders-on Windows user.

I work with Windows at work and Apple at home. No comparison in terms of stability, ease of personalization and basic intuitiveness. My two excperiences with the Apple Store Genius Bar were a pleasure, knowledgable and friendly crew who fixed my minor problems for free with helpful explanations throughout the process.
