Why do some threads get more greatest nominations than actual replies?
I don't understand why it so often happens that some threads gather many replies and generate much interesting debate without garnering any "greatest" nominations whereas other threads generate numerous "greatest" nominations without hardly gendering any significant replies or discussions.

Please explain (or merely nominate without discussion -- whatever).

3. A good rant is like that. Or pics.
What do you say to a rant? Anyone who does just does so to keep it kicked - which is what the rec's do as well.

5. Actually, recommendations don't kick.
So if you really like it, best to kick AND recommend.

7. That's what I was thinking. If you thought enough of the thread to
recommend it, I supposed that you'd at least kick it. Go figure.

9. I didn't clarify well, I guess.
If you go to the greatest page, then the thread is there (with enough of them) so kicking isn't necessary.

8. Any reason why your user name is the same
name of the man that shot President McKinley?

Just curious, Leon Czolgosz is from my hometown of Natrona, PA.

11. After 734 posts, you're the first person to mention that. It's a reference
to the old anarchist from the movie Slacker because when I chose the user name I had just seen that movie again and was feeling about as disillusioned as that character from the movie (but the character doesn't have a name as far as I can tell so I chose Czolgosz because of a quote from the movie):

"Leon Czolgosz, the man who assassinated William McKinley. He was an unknown Polish émigré who happened to be an anarchist of the 'propaganda by the deed' variety. If there were a hundred like him around today, they could change the world."

In case John Ashcroft is still monitoring our discussions, NO, I AM NOT ADVOCATING ASSASSINATION AS AN APPROPRIATE MEANS OF POLITICAL EXPRESSION.

10. It's actually redundant anyway, since the votes appear
at the bottom of the post.. I would rather have "views" back:)

at least that way you know that someone read what you wrote, even if they didn;t comment or vote:)

Really, many of the "Greatest" threads leave me speechless. All I can do is nominate so others can see it too.
