1. The Desert Botanical Garden is pretty cool...

I spent a week with friends there a couple of years ago and we went there...It was definitely worth the visit!

I was there in April, though, when it was only 98 out, though!

Going to head that direction shortly. I need something to freaking eat - the hotel check in dude told me there's an Albertson's over there somewhere.

has a california pizza kitchen. If your into bars I can find you a link to a cool indoor/outdoor bar I fondly remember in the area as well
I spent a year about 4 blocks from where you're at. had a great time.

The Monastery was a cool place as I remember and should only be about 14 blocks away from ya.
