I can't feel my mouth...and I think I'm drooling on myself
I was at the dentist earlier, and the numb juice has not worn off yet. It was only one little cavity, and they gave me enough of what ever it was to knock an elephant down to its little, wrinkly knees.

I made all of us laugh, though, which made the experience all the more enjoyable. At one point, both of the dentist's hands, both of his assistant's hands, and some metal implements were all shoved in my mouth. I could not help but laugh, which got the dental assistant laughing. The dentist attempted a look of stern consternation, but when I snorted uncontrollably, he too began to laugh, which seemed to cause an alarmed chuckle from the receptionist at the front.

Oh... it was fun to be had by all!

I wonder if I can eat without lips.

1. I request not to be numbed
I was only number during my wisdom teeth. It wore off quickly where the work was done but my toungue and front of my mouth stayed numb for a while. My dentist uses air abrasion for non severe cavities. It is not painful.

7. I found a link about it
http://my.webmd.com/content/article/66/79601.htm
The dentist basically sand blasts the surface of your tooth and removes the decay that way.

4. Yes... yes... this I am now aware of.
The drinking has proven problematic. I'm pretty much wearing my iced tea.

5. That's why I have work done without Novocaine.
I tried it once, at my dentist's recommendation, and it wasn't that bad. No worse than having that giant needle stuck in your gums five times and STILL have the work start before you are "comfortably numb."

12. oh yeah....
He numbed my gum with a topical, and then tried to discretely jab me with the massive spear, er needle, that held the special numbing agent. I actually almost fainted in the chair.

8. I used to not have Novacaine
but my dentist does precision stuff with a new kind of novacaine. The only area that goes numb is the area he's working on, and it is numb almost immediately-no time to pee between shot and numbing up. After he's done-I can't really tell-almost like not having any at all.

18. It starts out with a q tip so you can't feel the shot
just like the old stuff. here's another thing-he's using a 28-30 gauge needle, not the 18 gauge mofos from the last shots I got that were part of the thing that put me off novacaine in the first place.

He goes to Novacaine conventions. This new stuff has been messed with on a molecular level.

14. I munched on the inside of my cheek
Yowsah, when the numbness wore off, I discovered I had caught the inside of my cheek between my upper and lower molars and it must have swollen a little. Then that little swollen area kept getting in the way of my molars repeatedly that day; it makes me wince to recall how sore it felt the rest of that day.

21. Better than the alternative!
I was scarred for life as a child by a dentist who drilled my numerous cavities (I was a Juicy Fruit gum addict) without Novocaine -- because the needle would hurt too much!

Go figure.

Torture of the purest ray serene-- and my mother was an accomplice!
