The way I keep my cat off my chair is by putting a book in the chair. She won't go near it. (Though it could reflect her political opinions, since the book is My Life, by Bill Clinton.)

My dogs, on the other hand, have shredded several books, and seem to have eaten chunks of them. So in my experience, dogs devour and digest books, whereas cats avoid them.

3. There is a great second hand book store in New Market, VA
that is supervised by a great hunk of an orange tabby (don't know his name)
