Your FIRST record and tape

My first record was one of them Disney jobs, where it's story book. But my first tape was cool.... Herb Albert and the Tijaunna brass. I saw the album cover, a terrible pick of the band that looked like it was taken by someone's brother, and wanted it.
It was only my mother and I in the store, so she bought it for me. I was about five.
I, even back then, loved, "the lonely bull."

2. man, my mom

Has shitload of 45ws, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Freddie and the Deamers, the beatles... all that... I lvoe flipping through them.

4. I did, too

I used to go down to this guy who had a record shop that supplied jukeboxes w/ their 45's; he'd get the used ones back and sell them for 25 cents a pop. I got some incredible stuff from him; Beatles, Grand Funk, CCR, Marvin Gaye....I wish I still had those..

3. A Stone's album

Sorry, can't remember the title, but it had a song on it that my mom said made her think of me, so she bought it for me, along with my first record player.

First LP: ABBA Greatest Hits
First cassette: B-52's debut
First CD: Simple Minds New Gold Dream

And that music all still sounds GREAT.

16. My first CD was the B-52s debut!

I still have it, but after 20+ years, it's starting to disintegrate. It'll be interesting to see what's left of our recorded history in fift years or so, long after everything has been encoded into "indestructable" digital media.

I got Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band on LP for my 9th birthday (the Beatles one, not the Bee Gees/Frampton one). I don't know if that was my first "real" record, but I think it was. I had some kiddy 7"s from when I was way young, and a Micky Mouse record player.

First cassette tape? Beats me... aren't those things disposeable?

First records I remember listening to


and the soundtrack to the muppet movie. I also had an air-supply LP.

I had some 45's among them a little Richard record and Tommy Roe's "Sheila", some vacation bible school record that I used to play at 33 rpm that sounded like "aaaammmmeeeeennnn, praaaaiiise theee loooooooord" that was lot's of fun, also a record by this guy named zoom and he lives on the moon and he's come down to earth just to sing you this tune 'cuz Heyhey it's your birthday today

It was about 1974, I believe, and I was 15.

First LP was an Al Martino album because I loved the song Blue Spanish Eyes. Hey! I was only about 7 years old.

First tape was Springsteen's Born To Run.
