She was played by an actress named Judy Tyler, who had bit parts on a few other programs, but was killed in a car crash at some point during the run of the show. Her character was not recast and disappeared from the show without notice. (Info pieced together from some Google searches designed to prove that I hadn't lost my memory completely.)

The only female puppet was Howdy Doody's sister Heidi Doody.
