How come the most dangerous spiders always have unique webs?

I killed a black widow in the garage and the second I saw the web I knew it wasn't your average house spider. ANd I've seen webs of other deadly spiders and they are also unique.

What gives?

9. The harmless garden spider has a beautiful web!

The first time I saw a garden spider was during Halloween a few years ago. I honestly thought it was a Halloween decoration. I have never seen such a big colorful spider with such an amazing web.







They use a zig zag pattern! It is cool and massive in size!

12. Those are banana spiders. We have tons of them.

The thing that makes me freak out, though, is I hunt deer in the fall in some of the thickest woods in the country...namely the dismal swamp. It's deathly quiet out there, except for the occasional wood duck or me breaking wind. (LOL)

So, I'll be snooping around the woods with a bow, all intent and focused on tracking game. Then, I'll walk into a banana spider's web that usually spans about 15 feet and I will literally wake up every animal within a mile's distance as I freak out like a little child...screaming, hyperventilating, and clawing at my face to remove the web. It's really pathetic.

I guess they are yellow! They are large, but they are completely harmless and they are a spider that you actually want around. But yes, it freaked me out the first time I saw it too! Like I said, I thought it was a Halloween decoration on this person's apartment!

They are very beneficial for insect control. I also have lizards living under my siding (also control insects). They have crazy brite blue tails:

But I have a severe case of arachnophobia. I was outside with my boys today. Gorgeous weather. I was getting up to usher the boys back inside when the biggest monster of a spider I've ever seen in person comes bumbling along the patio from underneath my chair, right through my feet. I have no idea if the sucker was poisonous, but it looked evil. It was a pale color with black markings and chubby long legs. :shudder: I shrieked, jumped 10 feet, grabbed both boys and shot inside the house screaming "Go inside! Leave the toys! Go inside now!" I fervently hope that no neighbors saw this spectacle. They wouldn't have seen the spider from a distance, so it would just look like I'd suddenly freaked out over nothing.

I really need to see someone about the arachnophobia. It's getting worse the older I get.

We have brown recluses and black widows around here. I don't think it was one of those, though. They don't tend to get as big as this one got and they don't tend to wonder out in the open like this one was doing, strutting his stuff. Probably a beefed up housespider.

Brown recluses like dark places like the insides of shoes :scared: I've never seen one in my own home, however, thank God.

22. Most big spiders aren't harmful!

The only ones I would worry about are the black widow and the brown recluse both of which I have found in my house! :o They are easily identified though!

Likely it wasn't poisonous. I do know what brown recluses look like, and although I didn't get close enough to inspect, it was way too big to be one of those. It wasn't one of those pretty garden spiders either although about that size, as it wasn't nearly as colorful, and those usually just hang around on webs instead of terrorizing helpless moms lounging on patios. It just looked like a regular housespider on steroids.

I've been severely arachnophobic for as long as I can remember. I don't mind bugs in general, and I love snakes. But I cannot coexist peacefully with spiders.

Got to my car...no car keys....I left and locked the door without grabbing my keys.
THen I decided to break in my bedroom window... which is small and high... so I had to stack four tires and step on them, then I slid in the window halfway, it was about a four foot drop to th ground. It looked like I could not do it...then my belt caught the window frame. I tried to back up... but guess what? The tire tower had fallen over. So there I was stuck like Whinnie the pooh...half in my room, half out...draped over the windowsill, laughing at myself.
But I managed to reach an nearby chair with m y hands and used the backrest as support while I maneuvered in. ALmost fell and broke my neck too.

But I succeeded

34. I watched someone throw a grasshopper into a garden spider web.

The spider immediately wrapped it up tightly and then broke through and started sucking the guts out of the grasshopper. It was disgusting and fascinating all in one. But I was pissed that the person killed the grasshopper. Poor little grasshopper. He didn't stand a chance.
