2. Reminds me of an old joke about oral sex with June Allyson.
She was the one that did the early commercials for Depends...

:puke:

Sometimes I horrify myself.

4. Hijack at will, if you're going to lavish me with compliments
Edited on Thu Sep-29-05 08:22 PM by Redstone
like that.

I'm glad you liked the cookbook. The guy who owns the company that printed it is perhaps the only person I know who's as obsessive of a perfectionist as I am. I thought it was the ultimate compliment when he said he'd never seen such perfectly balanced and sharp photographs as those. It made me feel good, given that I sweated blood to make them just right.

And you can thank his perfectionism for the print quality of the pictures, which is no less than superb. He was "breaking in" a new press with this book, and I was stunned at the results.

That book was truly a labor of love for me, in the very strictest definition of that term, and as such it makes me VERY happy that you like it.

And you'd be more that welcome to show it to everyone you know, and have them buy a copy as well. The library would thank you for that, and so would I. I'd bet you know some DUers who would like to buy a copy, hint hint.

Hey, try my recipes for the "almost as good as a real" Philly Cheesesteak and New Orleans Muffaletta! I bet your husband would love them!

Thanks again for the good words. Enjoy!

6. Doesn't get ANY more authentic than this.

Go to http://balch.library.home.att.net and you'll see a link to an order form.

It's a 100th anniversary community fund-raiser cookbook I put together for the library in the Vermont town where I grew up. I haven't lived there for 40 years, but when I heard they wanted to put the cookbook together, I insisted that they let me volunteer to do the design, since designing books is what I do for a living.

That, and the fact that the head librarian is the mother of the guy who was my best friend when I was growing up there, and the assistant librarian is his wife.

It was SO much fun to be able to cut loose and give these folks a professional design for their cookbook, instead of letting them type it up in Microsoft word and take it to Kinko's for copies.

Buy a copy. You have my personal guarantee that you'll think it's worth the 15 bucks; I'll refund your money my own self if you don't.

Thank you so much for your interest.

I double-checked, and it'll work this time. Sorry about that.

12. Make sure to try mine. They're in the sandwich section,
and are guaranteed to make you have a big smile on your face just before your arteries slam shut.

I thank you personally, and especially the library thanks you for ordering a copy. Lunenburg is a poor town, and they can use every single litle bit of support they can get.

14. Trust me, I'm VERY happy that this thread turned into
one about the cookbook, after starting out as a kind of throwaway post.

That cookbook serves a good purpose as a fundraiser for a library that really could use the income. The more copies sold, the better for them, and you do NOT need to apologize for helping sell more of the books.

I am in your debt.

10. Especially when we run it up the flagpole,
and they don't salute it. Then we know they're not bringing anything to the table, don't we?
