You know how hearing running water may induce the urge to pee? Does that urban phenomenon occur in dogs? When I rise in the wee hours of the morning to pee, should I close the bathroom door? Inevitably my dog follows me and waits outside the bathroom. I'm sitting there, peeing, wondering if my peeing is making her think she needs to pee. Because if she does, that means after I finish my paperwork and wash my hands, I have to haul my sleepy ass downstairs and through the garage to let her out. And I really don't want to do that. My theory is that if you keep your eyes closed, you can go back to bed and your sleep cycle is none the wiser. Because there's no turning back when the brain realizes the need to pee. And no matter how hard I try to pretend like I'm sleeping, my dog paces and stares at me (I can feel it in the dark), and I end up taking the trek downstairs. So, give it to me straight. Where did I go wrong? I should have shut the door, right?
