Poll question: If you came into some money what would you do?
If you were coming into some money and were in your mid-thirties what would you choose (and why would be helpful)?

1. Pay off my debts
Buy a new car, put the rest in the bank and live off of it and pay for my kids to go to college.

After that, they can support me.

8. 3 things to do with money
Spend- yes I would buy a nice (but not TOO nice) house
Save- I want to leave a legacy for my family, so I will save some
Give- Of course a very important part. Give to a charity close to my heart.

10. I feel the need to be totally honest here. I would buy a modest house
with a modest amount of land for privacy and live out my days without having to grovel at any freepers feet to earn money again. I'm exactly 35 years old right now. I have debts from a necessary surgery, not anthing enjoyable, that need to be paid off too. I would DEFINITELY move to a blue state, although the cost of living in blue states from what I have seen tends to be more expensive. I would do it to escape this hellhole where I live now. It's like you aren't even in America if you aren't a total repug here. And believe it or not, this is a blue county. You can't tell a difference between the repugs and the dems here. It's horrendous. I'd give anything for just one dem that resembles Kerry, Clinton, Gore, anything center to left would do at this point. Instead, I am surrounded by right wing nuts everywhere I look here. It's disgusting. My entire personality would change if I could afford to leave this place behind and know I would never have to come back. I would feel like I had died and gone to heaven.

11. I'd set my kids up with trusts.
They're both young, so the money would have ample time to grow into something substantial by the time they were ready for it.

Then we'd use the rest to buy a house or put down a significant down payment at least.

Mostly though, we'd be takin' care of the kiddos.

12. pay down my credit cards (which I did)
save a bunch of it (which I did)

start getting quotes etc to have my kitchen face lifted and a new floor put down in my family room, and also for a few other odds and ends of things that need to be done around here.

Like Solar Tube skylights because my family room gets very little natural light.

Like recoating the tub in my daughter's bathroom

Like tiling the patio/screened porch with saltillo tile.

Like stripping off the wallpaper and repainting our bedroom.

Hopefully we can get started on the projects this winter.

YAY.....

16. If it were enough money to make it feasible, I would move back to MN.
If there were enough, we'd pay off my parents' mortgage, buy a house for ourselves, pay any outstanding debt, and invest the rest.
