Santa compensated for dead reindeer

COPENHAGEN (Reuters) - Santa Claus will receive $5,000 in compensation from the Danish air force after an F-16 fighter jet frightened one of his reindeers to death.

Professional Danish Santa Olavi Niikanoff complained to the air force after a reindeer died with fright when a jet roared over the field where his animals were grazing, air force spokesman Captain Morten Jensen told Reuters.

"We acknowledge it was our fault and we have to pay compensation," Jensen said, adding that the air force regularly paid out sums of money to compensate for animals that die of fright when planes boom overhead.

2. If it was Rudolf, his lifestyle has bearing on the matter.

It's been sort of hush hush in the media, but since achieving fame, Rudolf has been out of control. There's been a lot of drinking, a lot of drugs, and some well hidden indiscretions with the likes of Paris Hilton, Victoria Beckham, and - most scandalously because of her age - Hilliary Duff.

If Rudolf was scared literally to death by the jet, his poor health certainly had some bearing on the matter.

She's no longer zoobait -- she's old enough to be seen in public with three, four, and five-point bucks without raising an eyebrow.

Of course, Rudi does have to watch himself. All he has to do is be caught snogging -- or even simulating a snog -- with another male reindeer, and the homophobic Christmas establishment will bounce him out of the North Pole like last year's stale sweetmeat pie. Or Madonna. Or both.

The scuttlebutt, with the emphasis on butt, is that Ms. Duff's Disney Christmas photo session that was supposed to involve sitting on Santa's lap evolved into something more like Lapp dancing.

It is said that Ms. Duff will do anything for a buck.

I'm not sure whether any attention whatsoever has been paid to Rudolf's sexuality. You will remember, if your old enough, the scandal involving Prancer and Dancer in the 1950's. That whole deal was of course swept under the rug because of the possible impact on Christmas sales, and the possible implications that would have on Richard Nixon's Presidential aspirations. I have heard, in such a way as to believe it, that the Strategic Air Command scrambled a fighter group to prevent media photographers from approaching the sleigh. This bordered on paranoia, especially because the night in question was "a foggy Christmas Eve." Foggy indeed. On that occassion the homophobic Christmas establishment was more interested in seeing the money than they were in their conceptions of morality.
